What should you do if your child has a fever, cough, vomiting, rash, sore throat or head injury? These are questions that all parents have. Health problems and parenting questions can come up anytime – evenings, weekends, when you’re at work or if your doctor’s office is closed.
MyChildsPhoneDoctor is designed especially to help parents decide what to do when they have a health or behavior question and to give them quick access to their medical home or nurse triage as appropriate.
The app is part of a research study sponsored by the Colorado Children’s Healthcare Access Program (CCHAP) Innovation Center and Children’s Hospital Colorado. The study is funded by two Colorado not-for-profit organizations that are committed to improving the health of children on Medicaid. For more information see www.cchap.org.
Two private physician’s offices are participating in the study. Patients of Peak Pediatrics and Rocky Mountain Healthcare Pediatrics are invited to enroll in the study and use the MyChildsPhoneDoctor app.
MyChildsPhoneDoctor is based on clinical protocols guidelines developed by Dr. Barton Schmitt, and used by pediatricians and nurses in 10,000 practices and 400 nurse advice call centers in the US and Canada. The guidelines have been tested for 125 years on more than 150 million telephone advice calls.
